Description
Vintage, French, wall-mount, folding/retractable/accordion coat and hat rack.
Piece is made of beechwood, showcasing a beautifully, hand-carved, turned wood design, with a warm, golden-oak color, from the early 20th century (see photos.)
The rack has 13, turned wood pegs (10 horizontal, measuring at 9 cm, and 3 vertical, measuring at 11 cm). Each peg has its own, mushroom cap-shaped form (see photos.) The 10 horizontal pegs, all finish with a small, aged, brass-colored cap. (see photos.) There are 2 hooks at the back, making it easily to mount upon a wall (see photos.)
The folding mechanism is fully functional and enables the piece to stretch from a minimum width of 22 cm when folded, to a maximum width of 94 cm, when fully extended (see photos).
Piece is in very good, original and vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a nice patina of time on the overall structure and pegs (see photos.) A light, hairline mark and a small miss of wood, on the upper, left-hand side by the hook (see photos.) Some light, old signs of woodworm (see photos), but nothing that affects the functionality of the piece. The wood has been treated, as well as polished, with respect to its original patina of time.
