Description
A sought-after ruby flacon made using the layered glass technique on the island of Murano, where high-end glass production has been carried out since the 8th century. The cuboidal, elegant form allows the beautiful color obtained with the sommerso technique to be fully exposed. Successive layers of glass overlap each other, creating a remarkable three-dimensional effect of convincing illusion of depth. A deeply saturated ruby color dominates the solid; it is softened by an ethereal yellow glow. The dynamics of the color arrangement depends on the angle of light and the specific setting. The flacon can be successfully used as a vase or purely decorative as an attractive interior design element. Glasses made in the sommerso technique can be juxtaposed to achieve a particularly interesting visual effect.
