Description
Aesthetic Movement Anglo Japanese manner mahogany and rush seated corner chair. Circa 1880.
The Aesthetic Movement flourished in Britain in the 1870’s and 1880’s. A precursor to British Arts & Crafts reform, the movement embraced Japonisme, and was a reaction against Victorian mass production.
In very good original condition, there are some light signs of use. The chair has been waxed. The facings around the rush have had a few panel pins added and there are a few hairlines to one facing (this side will not be on show when in situ.) Please refer to the photographs.
The chair is structurally sturdy.
Additional dimensions information:
The rush seat is 57cm deep from the back central upright to the front point.
