Pregnancy is a contemporary artwork realized by Jean Carton around the mid-20th century. Sanguine drawing portraying a nude pregnant woman. Dimensions: cm 58,7 x 47,4. In good conditions, except for some scratches on edges and pieces of scotch on verso. Signed by the artist on the lower left margin. Of great impact, this drawing is an original realization of Jean Canton (1912-1988), a French painter, sculptor and engraver. Here, the artist used a tehcnique named sanguine, chalk or crayon drawing done in a blood-red, reddish or flesh coloration. It has been popular for centuries for drawing, employed by 15th- and 16th-century artists such as the great masters Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rapahael and Andrea del Sarto.
