Exquisite and large kokeshi crafted by the artist Kazuo Takamizawa. Very beautiful, stylized design.
The kokeshi is adorned with a richly decorated kimono featuring intricate patterns applied using pyrography and hand-painted details.
Dimensions: height 25 cm, diameter 10 cm. The underside bears the maker’s stamp.
Craftsman | Woodworker: Takamizawa, Kazuo, born in 1927. Takamizawa-san resides in Maebashi City, in Gunma Prefecture, considered the craft center for modern sosaku kokeshi dolls.
He is a multiple award-winner, including the Prime Minister’s Award.
