Description
A soothing and restful modernist style river landscape composition, executed in oil and dated 1971. The composition presents a boat shed situated in lush greenery, and resting by a river where a boat is docked. The use of a cool and earthy colour palette including shades of blue, green, and brown imbues the painting with a calming feel. Containing impressionist qualities, distinct painterly brushstrokes have been dabbed swiftly across the surface, beautifully capturing the nature landscape and transient conditions of reflection and rippling effect of the water. This oil on canvas has been laid onto board, and is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner linen border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. A tiny sliver of the backing board is visible to the top right corner. There is age toning to the linen border, as well as light wear to some of the frame corners. Size: 54 x 48 cm (including frame)
