Description
This artwork includes a certificate of authenticity and is hand-signed by the artist.
Influenced by the work of CoBrA artists Asger Jorn and Karel Appel, Bengt Lindstrm was a painter, sculptor, and printmaker best known for his vibrantly colored works depicting distorted figures often based on masks, gods, and monsters from Scandinavian mythology. Lindstrm developed a sculptural style of thickly layered paint, loose brushwork, and a palette of bright primary colours, as seen in works like Passion (1988) and Le maitre et Marguerite (1963). A prolific lithographer and engraver, Lindstrms works such as Komposition (1976) and Untitled (ca. 1985) continued both his style and themes. Lindstrm also worked on glassware, jewelry, small papier mach sculptures, and hand-painted ceramics throughout his career. He created numerous large-scale public works in Sweden, including a 5×5 meter mural for the Vsteras Science Institute and the monumental Y sculpture at Midlanda airport.
