Description
Antique Art Nouveau box or jewelry box with beautiful marquetry.
The curved box is decorated all around with a so-called cube marquetry. By cleverly arranging different colored woods, the creator has succeeded in creating a three-dimensional effect. One has the feeling of seeing cubes lined up next to each other.
The lid is decorated with a landscape marquetry in typical Art Nouveau style. This scenery is framed by contrasting light and dark woods.
When we open the lid, we see an interior with various compartments, which in turn can be removed to reveal another large compartment underneath.
The inside of the lid is also finely inlaid with wood. The initials K.A. are inlaid in an oval medallion with a blue-colored background.
The creator’s signature and the date 1906 can be seen at the bottom right.
Authentic, restored condition with minimal signs of age and use.
